The redevelopment of Tindall Field as a new major open space for Queen’s University was a critical part of the university’s overall strategy to improve campus green space. Close to student residences, the artificial turf field and practice track is available to casual as well as scheduled user groups. This central green space is integrated into the existing campus fabric as a welcoming, attractive gateway from Albert Street, and includes significant improvements to the bordering streetscape. Developing large and small-scale social opportunities around the new open space was an important objective, as well as the seamless integration of a new pedestrian and vehicular network. Tindall Field is located above the new underground parking facility designed by CS&P, with 580 parking spaces.
