The transformation of an exterior courtyard space in the heart of Upper Canada College’s historical Toronto Campus into the Prince Phillip Quadrangle involved both extensive renovation and new construction. The new Creativity Centre comprises the largest part of the project and provides an innovative program for the creative arts and a new student centre. The five-storey complex and renovation to adjoining buildings contain a flexible 225-seat theatre, music and art studios, broadcast and editing facilities, computer graphics labs, classrooms, and the transformation of the existing library. The new Student Commons space, centrally located as a public square, day lit from above, is the major social space that delightfully integrates the old and new buildings.
